Sweet Potato Garden Mix
Garden Mix
Soft-roasted sweet potato with garden greens and colorful crunch.
Makes a few days of chop for a small-to-medium flock when refrigerated.
Ingredients
- 1 medium sweet potato, scrubbed
- 1 cup finely chopped kale or collard greens
- 1/2 cup shredded carrot
- 1/4 cup finely diced bell pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tablespoon cooked quinoa (optional)
Steps
- Roast or steam the sweet potato until fork-tender; cool completely.
- Dice the sweet potato into bird-appropriate pieces.
- Toss with raw greens, carrot, pepper, parsley, and optional quinoa.
- Serve a fresh portion; refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container for up to 2–3 days.
Tips
- Texture variety keeps foraging fun—leave some pieces chunkier.
- Skip salt, oil, butter, onion, and garlic.
- Chop complements a balanced base diet (pellets/quality mix); it is not a complete diet alone.
